Yeah , not a sausage roll. But a Eppie or hippie roll ? Back in 70's and 80's almost every pizza joint used to make these. Can anyone help me out ?
For people who don't know what these are. They were kinda like sausage rolls, but they would cook the onion and peppers with the sausage , and the dough was chewy on the inside.

I haven't had a hippie roll here but they have it plastered all over their awnings. Actually the only pizza place I know that seemingly advertises them.

Polito's Pizza in Queens. (Astoria specifically)

3812 Broadway, Long Island City, NY‎ - (718) 626-6344‎

(N/W to Broadway and walk towards Steinway or take the R to Steinway and walk north and make a left on Broadway)

Give em a call just confirm it's not just some old signage. But I'm betting they serve it up.

If you ever happen to be by any of these Green Market locations on the specified days, give these guys a try. They make a very good sausage roll similar to the eppie. The sausage is good quality, and the inner dough has that "chew" you're looking for. A little on the small side, but only 3 dollars.
