Kielbasa from the butcher, what to do with it?

vvv03 Sep 2, 2009 01:43 PM

I bought some Kielbasa on a whim when I was at Eagle Provision and now I realize I'm not sure how to cook it. I don't think it is smoked. I have potatoes and bell peppers, I was thinking that might be interesting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This time of year, I slit it lengthwise, cut in 6" long sections and grill on the BBQ. Gets out lots of the fat. Serve with Kraut and beans.

Heck just a simple sausage "skillet". Cube the potatoes and cut the sausage intto 1" pieces and saute with a little oil. Then add the bell peppers. Onion and a clove of garlic would complete the dish.

Choucroute: sauerkraut, bacon, onions, ham hocks, beer, sausage, and potatoes. 20 min. to prep, 3 hours in the oven. The smell in your house will be incredible! Here is a link to Emeril's recipe

You can also do this in a crock pot. Serve with apple sauce.
