Best Midrange in Dublin?

Restaurants like The Winding Stair and Chapter One seem well recommended on the boards and their menus look great and restaurants look fun and not stuffy. The prices, against the US exchange rate, seem fairly steep however (perhaps good food, even casual, doesn't come cheap in Dublin). Does anyone have a favorite restaurant that's a little less expensive? We're a group of 6 foodies interested in Irish / Modern Irish somewhere fun.

Check out Green Nineteen, Gruel, Fallon & Byrne, The Cake Cafe, Avoca Cafe, Juniors, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Sheeben Chic, Cafe Fresh: they're all good, green nineteen and gruel being my favourites, use google.ie for your searches. It's hard to limit yourself in Dublin to 'Modern Irish', most are Mediterranean or Asian or Irish/British, maybe even in the same menu! Also, check out cheapeats.ie

Someone once suggested the Bang Cafe, but I've not been. Maybe someone else here has.
