Onions turning green

My onions turned green (sort of a light green, but definatly green). I was in the middle of a saute of onions, garlic (peeled garlic from Sunflower Market ) with EVOO, salt and pepper. I never had any thing like this happen before. Any Ideas??? I covered the large saute pan with a cheap aluminum serving tray, could that be the cause? Strange...

  1. It's a chemical reaction. Perfectly normal, especially with smaller dices/purees of onions.
