San Antonio/Fredericksburg for three days

I will be in San Antonio for three days staying at the la Mansion Del Rio.
I am looking for recommendations for Tex/Mex, auth Mexican and, BBQ restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. I also would love a suggestion for a lunch spot in Fredericksburg.

  1. In Fredericksburg, The Peachtree on Main street is a great lunch spot. Another place to stop is The Dodging Duck in Boerne--which is actually halfway between San Antonio and Fredericksburg. Very eclectic menu, sitting on the river...And it's a microbrewery, so you can sample their home brews.

Also on the I-10 corridor at Leon Springs exit is Fralos. One of my FAVORITES. Thur-Sat evenings they have live music outside in their patio dining area. This has been voted best new restaurant and best pizza 2 years in a row. Very think, sicilian style, excellent breadsticks. You can bring your own wine or other adult beverages.

There is a little joint called Taco Taco at 145 Hildebrand, which was voted best tacos in the USA by Bon Apetit magazine. If you are staying at La Mansion Del Rio, there are several great options along the riverwalk for you--Rio Rio is very close.

I second the Peachtree. Must try's are the Jalepeno Pimento Cheese and the So Good for You bread!

Isn't the Peachtree on Adams? Just off of Main? I've never been able to get in there and never even been able to get a reservation there due to their popularity. Call early if you plan on trying them. At least a week in advance.

      2. Acenar is within walking distance and has great food and atmosphere. This is a higher end mexican place that seems to also specialize in interior mexican cuisine. Ceviches, cabrito, moles, cochinita pibil. Its tasty stuff. Great tequila selection too. The cabrito can feed 3. Enjoy!
