Colonial Beach, Dahlgren VA---any hope?
I'll be making a side trip from Fredericksburg to the Northern Neck, and wonder if there are any good restaurants, preferably on the water, that I could enjoy for lunch? Something nearby would work as well. Thanks in advance!

There is nothing fantastic, but there are a few okay places. The best is not open for lunch (in the marina). The Riverboat on the Potomac is right on the Potomac and has a nice view. They have a nice outside deck. Inside is not that great -- very large with several rooms dedicated to off track betting. Have had a decent club sandwich there and the crab dip was very good. Menu is fairly large.
High Tidez is located on the Colonial Beach "boardwalk" (which is very small) and sits across from the river. It is about 1/2 a block or so from The River Boat. They have very good burgers. Wings are also good. They have steaks, etc. also available.

I second High Tidez. We just returned from a very relaxing five days down there in Colonial Beach for the second year in a row. This year we tried a few places we had not tried last year and were a little disappointed...High Tidez is the best down there. Be sure to sit outside!!
