Hey chowhouders,
Looking for great gyro meat. very crispy not greasy. for some reason have no problem finding in the most random places out of the city but in the city cannot seem to find really good meat. I don't mind traveling to get it. preferably downtown but at this point will go anywhere.
Crispy and lean is must!

Thanks in advance!

This Times article is worth reading:

A lot of vendors in the city are going to be purchasing their gyros from the same supplier (or from just a few suppliers), so it would be surprising to find much variation. Given the type of meat the suppliers use, and the production methods, it would also be surprising to find lean meat.

Perhaps some places outside the city actually make their own - I don't know.

They obv don't make gyros, but Bereket's kebabs have the crispiest, most thinly-cut lamb I've had here.
