Map for Jonathan Gold's 99 Essential Restaurants (2009)

LOCKED DISCUSSION

Hi everyone,

I made a map of Jonathan Gold's 99 Essential Restaurants that just came out.

The article at LA Weekly is at

http://www.laweekly.com/2009-08-27/ea...

and a map of all the restaurants is at

http://mapalist.com/Public/PublicMapV...

Enjoy!

  1. Nice effort. Thank you!

      1. Wow how incredibly helpful!!! Thanks for your efforts!! One question, tho: when you roll over some of the points that are close together, only one name appears. Is there a way around that?

        Thanks again!

That's a product of the software; the OP can't fix it. What you need to do is scroll in closer until the two places are far apart for the site to recognize them as distinct locations. It's a pain but as noted, it's not anything the OP can do.

Aaaah, yes I figured it was the software, but didn't know if OP was aware that it did that, and I printed it out, so in order to number and write down each place, I didn't think to zoom in. Thanks for the tip, odub.

        2. I've constructed such maps myself -- never for so many places, however -- and know how much work it is. Thanks for your community service, brahms!

Just one more thing: Could you get JGold to put the right restaurants on his list?

          1. I noted a couple of misplaced markers: Square One should be at Fountain and Catalina, and Jitlada is at Sunset and Harvard (both are showing as being on Western)

            Good job!

There always someone in the crowd who's never happy!!! LOL!

Have you been to the corner of Fountain and Western? If I was looking for the best breakfast in L.A., I would *not* be happy ... ;)

I believe Phurstluv was responding to the complaint of "Could you get JGold to put the right restaurants on his list?" not the mistaken addressing in the map.

                  1. re: odub

Close!!! I was responding to the fact that there always some smart ass in the crowd with a correction or two, after all the OP's hard work!!! But it was a joke, don't get your panties in a bunch!!! LOL!

            2. Very helpful. Thanks brahms.

              1. This is great! Just got my copy. Thank you.

                1. as someone doing some heavy research on where to eat in LA when I come for Xmas, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
