Best Pho in the Westside?

I have been craving pho but I can't seem to find any good pho places nearby (culver city). Any suggestions? Thanks!

  1. Little Saigon on Santa Moncia Boulevard

Where's that? I can only find one on Western.

And is the pho actually good? Or is it merely the best you'll find near Culver City?

Noshie probably means Le Saigon on Santa Monica Blvd by Federal Ave.

          Oh.

I was pretty disappointed with the pho at Le Saigon. The price was high, the bowl was small, and it just wasn't very tasty.

I like the pho at Le Saigon, especially for the westside. That being said, I love their bun. Get the one with grilled pork... yuuuuum.

    2. Well I don't know about "best" but it's the only one I've had on the westside: China Beach. Simple but pleasant. I like the place. Not amazing but gets the job done.

      China Beach
      2024 Pacific Ave

      1. Pho 99 (on Wilshire a couple blocks west of Barrington).

        1. Probably the best of what's available is Pho 99. That's not really a compliment... but I'm spoiled by having lived in the Valley (Pho 999, Pho So 1) and near Little Saigon (dozens of places).

Le Saigon is where you go for bun, not pho.

Pho Citi in Westwood is not bad.

Is it related to Pho Citi in Burbank? The Burbank one is... oy, gevalt.

                1. re: kevin

Is this the one in the same mini-mall with Peet's and Eduardo's?

                2. re: Das Ubergeek

I thought Le Saigon's Pho Ga was ok, not the biggest bowl on either their bun or pho and not the most herbs. I liked the bun at Pho 999. Guess I will try Pho Citi if I can find parking (Pho 99 parking lot a pain, Pho Citi's looks worse)

                  1. re: noshie

I've been to Pho 99 and just thought it was alright. My friend thinks it's the best on the westside. I've had better in OC. But I'll try Le Saigon and Pho Citi! Yum, thanks everyone!!

Ewww... I'm sorry but Le Saigon has the most unflavorful pho I have ever had. Even when they give you the weakened fish sauce to add, it still has no flavor. I just went to Pho 99 in Torrance and there's apparently one on Wilshire Blvd. Here's a link to their menu which is surprisingly extensive:

This is probably as good as it gets near Culver City. I feel ya Justine--I'm in CC too and my Vietnamese boyfriend got me into Vietnamese food and we drive to Little Saigon every once in awhile to fill the urge!

If they give you fish sauce of any kind to add to pho, they're doing it wrong.

                3. We live in Santa Monica, but usually go to SGV for Vietnamese food.
We haven't tried Pho 99, but the best pho near the Westside is in Lawndale. I like Saigon Dish (not open Sundays), and Pho Hoa isn't bad either.

Hm... is Lawndale closer than Van Nuys? You could go to Pho 999 and Pho So 1 near the 99 Ranch on Victory and Sepulveda.

                    1. re: Das Ubergeek

In terms of miles, probably not, but driving to Lawndale vs the Valley seems effortless as opposed to driving up and down that giant hill and into that heat.

                      1. re: Das Ubergeek

I think Lawndale and Van Nuys are about equidistant from the 405/Culver City when it comes to drive time. Of course as always it depends on traffic and luck of the draw. 15-25 minutes either way...

                    2. they recently open a pho place in culver city ..I think its called pho sho ..it is on sepulveda just west of culver..right at the light on sepulveda and lindblade..next to the big 5..i know diddly about pho..but my 25 y.o. son went saturday and liked it ..but then again he is a pho newbie..

I've been to Pho Show on Sepulveda (odd name since if you pronounce it right from what I understand the pun doesn't work, anyway).

I don't find their Pho very interesting. The broth it somewhat bland though the toppings are pretty nice and fresh. Meat is properly rare when asked for and the usual variations are there. If I am craving a quick Pho I will go. But for serious Pho, I will drive a bit further. It is a nice, clean place, if a bit too Westsided up.

I actually like the Bun pretty well there though and will go get that. Fresh rolls aren't bad either.

I personally like Saigon Dish in Redondo Beach right off 405 if I don't feel up to driving to Westminister. I also like Pho Hoa in Hawthorne.
