All of the sandwich options come with garlic fries. I'm not a big fan of their burgers or their barbecue chicken sandwich. The lunch menu has some sandwiches that aren't on the dinner menu. Some sound interesting, like the crabcake sandwich. Their crabcake appetizer is good, so the sandwich is probably pretty good. As far as the entrees go, the meatloaf is very good. I'd also recommend the cashew chicken stir-fry and the goat cheese ravioli. If you go for a pizza, then stick with the basics (cheese, pepperoni or sausage/basil). The other pizzas aren't very good. Sorry, haven't tried the fish and chips.

really? i always get the garlic fries along with a grilled dodger dog from the aramark stands. i don't recall any indication that the fries were from gordon biersch, although the dogs are as always shown to be by farmer john.

they are good, though. you can really smell the garlic from rows away.

Maybe they are not Gordon Biersch? Hmm, would have sworn that they were. But that was a few years ago. Maybe changed vendors with the new owners (and much higher prices!!)? I could be wrong...

My first thought: Avoid at all costs.

Since you can't, the second recommendation is to eat as little as you possibly can, get a drink, and enjoy your friends' company.

Then go and grab something from almost anywhere else.

I'm serious.

C'mon, surely the Pasadena branch can't be THAT bad??!! I've eaten at the San Jose and Burbank outposts maybe once or twice each since it was convenient and we were seated quickly. While it wasn't amazing, it wasn't horrible either. Just your average bar and grill place w/ the usual innocuous suspects.

I do remember the garlic fries the best; they have the potential to be quite good if the kitchen is grooving. Ordered a burger and pizza which were decent as well--def. a step up from places like TGIF's, Chili's, BJ's.

To the OP: go, see what appeals to you, but the sandwiches, pizzas, and fries are pretty safe and are cheap enough to innoculate you from resenting/regretting it that much. Couple of drinks shouldn't hurt either...

I have not been to the Pasadena GB lately, but I don't remember the food being that bad as to save one's appetite and eat somewhere else. Their finger foods to go with the beer is not bad.

There is at least one old town Pasadena place that deserves this type of warning - City Thai.

i ended up splitting a pizza with my coworker. it's very big and pretty good for a $12 pizza. it feed both of us comfortably. my other coworker had the hummus goat cheese salad, it looks really good. she said it's her favorite. maybe i'll try that next time. thanx all for the recommendations.

Hey, glad to hear that you liked the food ok. In that genre of chains, I actually think GB is one of the better ones. Seems like good value, and I remember the portions being quite generous. Surprised you were able to stay away from those garlic fries though--I would have been all over that!
