Where can I buy unprocessed, whole livestock (lamb, pork, goat, etc)?

Are their any slaughter houses in L.A. that sell the whole animal, unprocessed, directly to customers? I know of a few in San Diego, but I was looking for something closer in L.A. or Orange County.

It might be easier, and probably cheaper, to buy directly from a farm. But that might also depend on how large an animal you want. An entire 800 pound cow isn't as common as a suckling pig.

      www.eatwild.org has a directory.

Claro's Italian Market sells a whole or half lamb seasonally. Maybe a pig too. Locations in Orange County and I believe East LA.

I think one of my friends once ordered a whole pig at Alexander's Meat Market in San Gabriel, so you might want to try there.

wouldn't it be easier to buy the animal live and have it slaughtered?
live animals will be available at the county fair. most are 4 h projects and i'm sure the kids would happy to sell.
