Don Felix: Not Just for Tacos Anymore

Mattapoisett in LA Aug 28, 2009 04:03 PM

So Dommy and I had a hair appointment which went bust and with time to kill in our Lunch hour we went to Don Felix on Sawtelle @ Washington Pl in Culver City. They are known for good Tacos and it is one of the Places on the Westside to reliably get decent Barbacoa De Chivo. But they've had a sign up for a few months announcing Broasted Chicken. We had to Try.

When we ordered we were warned that since it is made fresh it will take 15 minutes . It Came to us hot fresh and Crispy. The Batter was light and not overpowering. and the Chicken itself was very most and flavorful but not to salty. The Plate Came with Tortias rice Beans and a Salad all of which paled in comparison to the Chicken. so if you go, consider getting the chicken by itself or with their good tacos.

the tacos aren't as good as they used to be. They ditched the habanero for a safer milder salsa. It's a bit pricier as well, I was $6 and change for 3 tacos and a mexican coke

Sad to hear, as I thought they had some of the better tacos on the westside. I loved that salsa!

Their lengua burritos rock. I always wondered about that chicken

      Hi Mattapoisett,

Thanks for the info; it's always nice to find a new Broasted Chicken place. :) If I may ask, what's your favorite Barbacoa de Chivo restaurant in L.A.? Thanks.

I haven't explored it in LA as much as i would like, but I enjoyed the version at Monte Alban. My absolute favorite though was @ Topolobampo in Chi-town.

        Take Care
