Anyone Been to Tagine in Harvard Square
I just read the so-so review of Tagine in this week's Phoenix. Has anyone else tried this restaurant? If so, would you please report on the quality of the food.
Thanks for flagging the review. I asked about the place about a month back with no one saying they'd been there, and we ended up going someplace else, mostly because one of our guests turned out to be a very unadventurous eater and I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable. Pity about the blandness. Wonder if it's the good old catering to what they mistakenly believe American tastes are (which begins with the bigger mistake of thinking all Americans have the same taste) issue.
I was there on Saturday and woudl have to agree with the Phoenix and post here. The service was friendly but hapless, the atmosphere weird and the food desperately in need of salt and spice. They gave the appetizer (eggplant salad) without plates/utensils for the table and an inadequate amount of bread to accompany it. We had to beg for water when we could catch the server emerging from the back (for the bulk of the time there was only one table beyodn our party of three!!!). I had the select fish dish from the Phoenix review and was not impressed.
