Review of Costello's, Noank, CT
drove up w/ my dad yesterday (such a perfect day!), and enjoyed some CT coastal treats. we were originally going to go to abbott's, but my dad being the big fried seafood lover he is, wanted to go to costello's on the suggestion of the wine/beer store owner. no worries, it's the same owners, and the food was great (plus they have an upper deck)! i had the hot lobster roll since i have only had cold ones before, and it was really good. unfortunately, they put the fine lobster on a wimpy hamburger bun, but i just took the top top off and drizzled a tiny drop of butter right on there yuuuuuum. i got my butter on the side, cuz i hate when lobster is sopping in butter (kind of like an overdressed salad). it was $13.95 and came w/ cole slaw, which was nothin special and a bag of chips that i didn't eat. i'd rather pay a bit less and forego the sides. anyway, my dad got an order of steamers ($13.95 for about 2 lbs.), and they were good. it had been a looong time since i had eaten steamers, and i could taste the water that these guys were previously swimming in. i kinda liked that, but it's not for everyone i know. he also got the whole belly clam dinner, and the clams were like the steamers in that you could taste where they had come from. they were good, not too much beading, and i liked the extremely thin crispy fries, but i had been to the clam box in ipswich, MA 2 months ago and those were superb (i'm wondering where costello's gets their clams; i forgot to ask!). in all, it was a pleasant day, and i look forward to going back...noank is such a quaint spot! on a side note, i wanna try the place in guilford next time i'm on the coast...sounds awesome!
