Craving thanksgiving meal

Soup Aug 27, 2009 05:50 PM

I am craving a thanksgiving meal and its 3 months away. I'm talking real turkey, mash potatos, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, etc. Any place I can get it around NOVA that does a good rendition even if it is only sept.

when I crave a turkey dinner I usually go to one of the 2 diners on the rockville pike or the tastee diner in silver spring and they always have it on the menu. don't know nova but when I googled silver diner they have locations all over NOVA. not sure if they have pumpkin pie but they should have other pies

i know it's on the menu at whitlow's but i can't say i've ever had it...i do think they in general have pretty good food so it might be a good place to start.

There are taco trucks, papusa trucks, burrito trucks, a pizza truck. Perhaps its time for a roving turkey dinner truck. Just park and serve and move on...

Friends of mine dined at Commonwealth (in DC) earlier this week and raved about the delicous turkey, roast beef, and mashed potatoes. Everything was served family style. They said it was an as close to a Thanksgiving meal not on Thanksgiving, but sans the cranberry sauce. I'm thinking of going there myself as I'm craving Thanksgiving food too! :)

That's a good idea -- fyi, I think it's only Sundays they do this, called a "Sunday roast" (I haven't been for it.)

I know this is in random, but... the U.S. House cafeteria in the Longworth building does a turkey dinner on Wednesdays. Now, I can't stand the cafeteria normally, but turkey wednesday is pretty darn good (and very popular). This was one of the few things that remained when they revamped the cafeterias. You can get turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce for about 7 bucks.
