Anyone been to "Ottavio" in VSL?

We have a dinner scheduled for mid-september for a group of 8 people. Someone suggested Ottavio restaurant in Ville St-Laurent. Anyone been there? IF not, does anyone have another recommendation in that area? We may be bringing some kids.

  1. I was at Elounda last Sunday (Cote Vertu & Marcel Laurin) and the place was full of families with kids. Great high quality Mediterrean/Greek food - highly recommended. However, a little pricey.

    1. Haven't been to Ottavio, but an option that's quite good for groups, and kids, is Daou. It's actually better going there with a group, as you can order a good selection of apps and mains to share.

      1. so how was it, mtlmaven?

I just returned form an early dinner at Ottavio and I was quite impressed. Firstly, almost full by 7 pm on a Wednesday... and for a pasta/pizza/mussels resto it was well above the usual quality in Montreal. BYOB is a huge plaus, and the service was young, friendly, and attentive. Very pleasantly surprised, I'll be back for the AYCE mussels and fries Mon-Wed.

I went with a group of friends last wednesday and it was rather full which I took to be a good sign. Most of the group either ordered pizza or pasta. I ordered the smoked salmon pasta and found it to be wayyyyyy too salty. The waitress took it back without a fuss and asked me what else I wanted instead. I ordered a pizza with feta and spinach which was absolutely delicious. The topings were fresh and the crust was nice and crisp. I would recommend this place but whatever you do, do not order the smoked salmon pasta. In fact, this is not the first time I've had issues with that pasta come to think of it. I think I'll just stay away from it period from now on!
