Breakfast place between Culver City and Los Feliz
Looking for a casual place to get a decent, healthy breakfast between Culver City and Los Feliz that's open on weekends. Thanks.
That's a wide area to cover. I only know Culver City end of it:
Metro Cafe on Washington Place
Overland Cafe on Overland (haven't been in YEARS, but a friend recently went and liked it)
Dijonnaise at Helms and Washington Blvd.
John O'Groats on Pico (I recall long lines)
S&W Country Diner on Washington Blvd (again long lines)
Cafe Laurent on Overland (mixed reviews about the service)
Can't vouch for the healthy factor on any of these, but if you choose your menu items carefully, you should be able to find something that fits the bill!
re: Sam D.
Square One has my favorite breakfast in Southern California; it's a standout in a very strong field, because there have been so few mediocre ones and so far no bad ones. If I'm anywhere near there around midday I'll try to stop there, and then try even harder to order something besides that addictive house-cured salmon Benedict...
On Fountain, directly behind the massive Scientology Center on W. Sunset.
Mid-City West (90036 & 90046) and WeHo (90048) are between CC & LF
My recommendations are:
Mani's Bakery & Cafe (323) 938-8800
519 South Fairfax Ave, 90036
Kokomo Café (323) 933-0773
7385 Beverly Blvd, 90036
BLD* (323) 930-9744
7450 Beverly Blvd, 90036
Vienna Cafe (323) 651-3822
7356 Melrose Ave, 90046
Blu Jam Café (323) 951-9191
7371 Melrose Ave, 90046
Jack n Jill's Too* (310) 858-4900
8738 W 3rd St, 90048
Breadbar* (310) 205-0124
8718 W 3rd St, 90048
* Maybe more formal and $$ than you are looking for, but delish!
The Alcove on Hillhurst in Los Feliz is very popular, Square One is a stellar recommendation, then there is the Waffle on Sunset just east of Vine.
