Eating and Drinking our way through Alto Adige

CindyJ Aug 26, 2009 09:47 AM

My husband and I will be spending 3-4 days in the Alto Adige area next week. We have no planned itinerary; we just want to explore small towns and beautiful countryside. And we'd like to make the most of our time there by visiting restaurants that offer fresh, local foods that are well prepared. Can anyone recommend some places that, chances are, we'd never find on our own? Thanks!

    This is what I recommend:
in Appiano, the restaurant ANSITZ PILLHOF www.pillhof.com , especially if you enjoy wine as it is a wine bar, also
    in Corvara, OSTERIA L' MURIN
in Funes, the restaurant PITZOCK www.pitzock.com
if one night you want to enjoy a very fresh and excellent local beer, then in Lagundo, BIRRERIA FORST www.braugartenforst.com
in Merano, ristorante ASTORIA, really very very good
    in Pedraces, LOCANDA MASO RUNCH
in San Candido, the excellent restaurant BERGSTUBE, where it is possible also to sleep www.glinzhof.com
    in Vipiteno, the restaurant PRETZHOF.

Grazie, Vincenzo! From the absence of responses, I was beginning to think there were no worthwhile restaurants in the area.

You know, Cindy, in the whole Italy there are very good restaurants and Alto Adige is a delightful area also for restaurants.
I go there very often because a dear friend of mine lives in Bolzano and thanks to her and her husband I know the restaurants that I recommended you.
Also wines are great wines and do not miss them !
        Enjoy, ciao.
