Cheap/Budget Eats in Montreal

Hi All,

We're spending 5 days in Montreal and would love some recommendations for budget restaurants for lunch/dinner. We love all cuisine, and would be willing to travel almost anywhere.

Thanks!

while JTM is fun, it's not the cheapest place in town especially if you're munching you way around the different stands.

I'll second that emotion. There's nothing cheap at Jean-Talon. In fact the prepared foods are usually more expensive than the same thing in a less touristy setting. $2.50 samosa, anyone?

But you can walk seven blocks to Waverly and Mozart, to Depanneur Le Pick Up (the performance art dep) which has a snack bar with very good, and inexpensive, food.

        This thread is good, too.
