Foot Long Hot Dog Buns

SparkleKristy Aug 25, 2009 08:54 AM

I'm having a party and am looking for foot long hot dog buns. The dogs themselves are easy to find, but I've had no luck finding the buns around town or even on-line.

Thanks for your help!

SK, good observation... one can fake the hot dog (2 in a bun)... but you can't fake the bun. Sorry I have no suggestions.

I'm not a reagular foot-long eater, but it seems to me that most of them that I've seen have been about 9-10 inches long and stick out of a standard length bun so that they look like geez it must be a foot long.

If you have really classy dogs, you can chop French baugettes to length, probably get two out of a single loaf. And I've seen some long softer rolls at Shoppers. I used to get them to make sausage sandwiches.

Don't know where you're located, but my mind goes straight to "banh mi rolls" - I get them 3 for $1 fresh daily from an Asian supermarket on Columbia Pike.

Thank you all for your help. I know it's a tough one. I did get a commercial source. If I have success, I'll post it.
