North Star Brewing is in Shasta Lake City. (www.northstarbrew.com). Beer's OK, can't comment on the food, because we haven't been back since they established regular food service. Not a slam against the brewery, it's just not particularly convenient, and the beer's not outstanding enough to go out of our way. They do fill growlers, though. They are also partnering with the Downtown Eatery in Redding (www.thedowntowneatery.com) - just started a Mug Club, and are looking to start up some on-site brewing and service of cask-conditioned ale.

There is a great brewery in Weed. The (not suprisingly named) Mt Shasta Brewery. I know their beer, not their food. Good beer. Funky place. Here is the YELP http://www.yelp.com/biz/mount-shasta-...
I think there is still a very teeny weeny brewery, Etna Brewing, in (Not surprisingly) Etna CA. It is a good drive from Shasta City. A beautiful one, but long.

In Mount Shasta City is the Goat Tavern (or Billy Goat Tavern); not a brewpub but a pub with lotsa brews and great food.

re: sdnativa
I have a question about the BG Tavern- this has always bugged me-why oh why do they use the front triangle shaped deck as a trashy dumpy storage area- makes the whole place look bad,and it is prime seating for people watching-back when it was Willy's it was great fun to sit there with a brew or two and watch the 'action" ( well Mt. Shasta's version of action) Who uses prime and very visible decking as storage?

I wondered exactly the same thing when I was there a couple of weeks ago. In fact, would have eaten there if I could have had a table on the deck, however entering through the bar area and being ignored by at least five workers criss crossing by decided to pack it on down S. Mt. Shasta Blvd.
