dinner/drinks spots convenient for date taking path back to hoboken
hey guys,
planning a date tonight with a guy who lives in hoboken and figured i'd take into consideration the fact that he'll be heading home after our night (it's a first date so he'll definitely be heading home;)
nothing fancy. looking for fun, reasonable, good food and most of all great drinks.
thoughts?
thanks ahead of time,

El Charro Espanol, our favorite "little place" in Manhattan, is three short blocks from the 9th street PATH station. That's one of the reasons we go there so often! Food is fabulous, and service is excellent. ;)
oh yes, and some consider their Margaritas the best in Manhattan. ;D

The area that Jungmann described (in the W. Village) is prime food territory. Name your cuisine(s) and chances are you'll be able to find it.
Without knowing much about your specific preferences, places that I think are fun, relatively inexpensive and Chow-worthy include:
- Mercadito Grove (intensely loud unless you sit outside... but the food and drink are great and fun to share... I especially love the tacos mariscos)
- Panca (Peruvian; decent cocktails, pisco sours are of course the highlight of the list; pretty good food, especially the ceviches and arroz con pollo)
- Galanga Thai (the preps are exploding with fresh vegetables, the atmosphere is casual and dark enough to support romance... my only beef is that the drink list is pretty heavy on the sweet cocktails) -

Second Maletesta. Note: it's cash only. And then you can either walk to Magnolia for dessert (yes, it's cheesy but it's cute) or Absolutely 4th for cheap drinks in a nice, dark, loungey setting. Although, I just checked the address and it's closed!! Cannot believe all these places are closing!
