Fraser Valley Favorites

I'm new to this message board/forum, and it looks like an awesome place to find lots of good info!

Now, on to my first post here!

I always seem to be able to find lots of info on restaurants in and around the city of Vancouver, but find it sometimes a little more challenging when looking for something new east of the Fraser River. So, that being said, if I'm not the only one here living on this side of the bridge, where are some of your favorite places to go and have a meal?

I'll list a couple of my favorites in no particular order:

"New York, New York" in Surrey
"Luna Loca" in Surrey
"Vault" in Cloverdale
"Olive Garden" in Langley
"Lou's Grill" in Abbotsford

So, where do you like to go when you don't feel like crossing the river?

I rarely get out that way, but I've been hearing good things about Ah Beetz Pizza in Abbotsford...

Hmmm...Never heard of it...I'll have to check it out next time I'm at my friends place in Abby to watch some football and drink some beer...Pizza goes so well with those things...

    2. Don't forget Luxe Fine Chinese for authentic chinese food (not westernized).

      1. We tried to go to "Ah Beetz" in Abbotsford, but only to find out that it doesn't open until 4:00 p.m., plus there was a sign that said they were sold out of pizza (probably from the night before). So we'll have to try next time we go to BC.

A group of us went to Shandahar Hut in Chilliwack for Indian food and it was quite tasty. The Madras lamb was very, very spicy - only 3 of us had seconds of it and I certainly felt the endorphins kicking in!

My family live in Chilliwack. We had lunch at Shandahar last October - really delicious. We're out there again next week and I'll probably have lunch there again.

        2. Mitch Miller's is probably my favourite place in Abbotsford. The restaurant is small, but it has a really nice atmosphere, and the food is great!

Agreed, Mitch Millers is a great casual spot in Abbotsford with really good burgers, decent steak and surprisingly good soups...
Best restaurant though - Restaurant 62! Fine dining at Cactus Club prices. great sustainable choices, classic flavours and some intriguing ones as well - their pistachio mashed potatoes are unreal.

+1 for Ahbeetz and Restaurant 62
Ahbeetz has some of the best pizza of all time; it utilizes local products and has the most amazing crispy crust. My favourite pizza is probably the Il Mio Amore or Salsiccia - make sure to order well in advance, they're usually really busy, and run out of dough by 8 o'clock on many days
Restaurant 62 is also very good, exciting flavors, well executed, and uses a lot of local ingredients too. The head chef is really nice and the service is great.

              Restaurant 62
2001 McCallum Rd, Abbotsford, BC V2S3N5, CA

          2. "Jacksons Grill" in Chilliwack - some of the best steakhouse food I've had anywhere!
"Presto Cucina" in Abbotsford - casual Italian, can't go wrong. Yummy gelato's for dessert too.

I've heard "Bravo" in Chilliwack is very classy and right up there with the best Vancouver restaurants, though we haven't tried it yet (need to find a babysitter!)

Have to say I was not a fan of Restaurant 62 in Abbotsford, though I went soon after they opened and they may have improved things by now. When I went you were sitting so close to the next table that it almost seemed like the people next to you were in on your conversation. :( Not good. The food wasn't good either.
