More on Julia - this month's Wine Spectator articles

This month's Wine Spectator has a nice appreciation of Julia Child and encomia to her by various disciples and luminaries including Thomas Keller. Worth reading.

  1. I am so impressed by your use of the word "encomia". I love that word. :)

Have to admit that one reason why I nixed my WS subscription is because the articles so often sound like they advertisements and/or like they were written by a fourth grader. If you say this one's worth reading, though, I'll trust your judgment and look for it.

Some words just have to be used from time to time. I got the sub as a freebie and often don't even open it - my husband looks at it mainly to harrumph that you can read about all the wines you want but just try to find them. This was good, though.

        I'm sold. :)

Actually, I shouldn't bash WS too much. If you have an online sub, the search function on their website is really helpful for finding wines that are recently reviewed, more widely distributed, inexpensive AND highly rated. And every once in a while they do come out with helpful (to me) lists of well rated cheapies. Since you're in NYC, you can take these lists to Acker Merrall and have them order up cases of the hard-to-find stuff for you.
