there's Swish by Han where solferino used to be in the St. Lawrence market area. I haven't been there so i can't speak from experience but it's supposed to be pretty good and is proper shabu-shabu instead being hot pot.

The one at Swish wasn't very good.

Ematei does shabu shabu, I believe. Jimbay's in Mississauga does one too, but you have to order in advance.

It's a fairly simple dish to do at home if you have a portable burner.

The one at Ematei is very nice, reminded me of a cold winter spent in Osaka. I wonder if they serve it in the summer though - they can often be fairly seasonal about things.

I would say Ematei is best for Shabu Shabu. They serve it in the summer.

ematei's "shabu-shabu" is good but its good japanese shabu-shabu. Korean shabu shabu is different for the japanese (the thai also have a form of shabu-shabu)

But isn't "shabu-shabu" by its nature Japanese? I mean, it's Japanese for "swish swish." Otherwise we're talking hot pot, and yeah, every Asian cuisine has versions.

Just a note, Dows' is chinese Hong Kong style, not Japanese style, they are not the same. And Dow is All You Can Eat, so don't expect too high quality out of it.
