First time visitor needs restaurant help!

My husband and I are visiting the 26-30 of this month. So far, the only reservation we have is for NOLA on Thursday night. We aren't really coat and tie people, but don't mind business casual type attire. What places would you recommend for first time visitors?

  1. Lunch at Commander's Palace, for sure. A very, very memorable experience.

BBQ shrimp at Mr. B's. Could be a snack if you split a plate at the bar, but don't leave without tasting this dish.

Drinks at the Carousel Bar and at the Sazerac Bar (which I haven't been to yet since it reopened)

    Cocktails you should try:
    Vieux Carre (Carousel Bar)
    Pimm's Cup (Napoleon House)

What do you recommend from Cochon?

I love their fried boudin, hogshead cheese, catfish courtbouillon, and the veal cheeks. I don't think you can go wrong.

Every time I have gone we split small plates. Usually I go with a group so we order a variety. If I gave a dish a 6 on a scale of 1-10 there would be three others at the table that gave it a 10. It depends on your taste I suppose. Looks like the menu has changed a little since I went (been a while). Good boudin, gator, okra, eggplant and shrimp.... I've heard raves about the oyster & bacon sandwich but I don't eat oysters.
