Just moved to Philadelphia and I'm looking for a great farmer's market with fresh local produce. Ideas? Thank you!

In the city but don't mind traveling if the suburbs have more to offer.

Not a regular Farmers Market, per say, but I LOVE Greensgrow Farms in the Kensington area.

It's open Thursdays 2-7, and Saturdays 10-3. The last few weeks they've had the BEST tomatoes, and everything I've ever gotten there is excellent.

The biggest and best is Headhouse Square Farmer's Market on Sundays (they do Saturday too, but Sunday is 3x larger if not more):

This is a true "destination" farmer's market.

The Food Trust and Farm To City also run smaller markets throughout the week all over the city. I can honestly say that all the ones I have been to are pretty good, even through they may only have 2-3 stands. Here are lists of the markets:

It's not a farmer's market, but the Fair Food Stand in Reading Terminal Market sells stuff from local farms and has a good selection. Pumpkin Market on South St is another local-only market.

we must cross paths regularly - these would have been my exact comments!

I live in Blue Bell, we always go to Maple Acres for our produce - it's a farm that sells to the local community and some local restaurants.

      2. My husband is the shopper in our family.
He has been getting amazing corn and other stuff from the Amish farmer in Reading Terminal Market. The Amish are there from Wednesdays through Saturday.
He makes special trips just to get that corn while it's available. He buys the ones that are 50c an ear. Mmmmm! Best we ever had.

Thanks to all. These are really helpful suggestions. I look forward to exploring.

        2. If you're in West Philly, the Clark Park Farmer's Market Saturdays from 10-2pm is pretty solid. One of the larger in the city.

I'd concur that Headhouse Square is the biggest and best.
