Blackstone Tavern - Cohasset

We ate at Blackstone Tavern in Cohasset Saturday night. For some reason this location seems to be cursed, I don't think Blackstone will be there much longer based on the turnout on Saturday night. There were maybe 5 tables occupied. The BT can't make up it's mind if it wants to be a sports bar or a white tablecloth restaurant. Maybe it's our impression of a "tavern" but we thought we could go and get some sandwiches and a few beers.

Upon walking in you get a choice of the bar side or the dining room. Both are clean enough but they have zero atmosphere. They were playing Seinfeld on the TVs at the bar and there was one lone person sitting there. The bar itself is really nice and you could see that it would do well in Boston.

The menu had one chicken sandwich, one hamburger and $21+ fried seafood menu. I asked the waitress what kind of oysters they had and they were out of them. They had a $30 ish steak menu and two pasta dishes. Some crazy duck dish and a bunch of other weird entrees. We ended up ordering the scallops and bacon appetizer which was delicious (one bright point) and the 3 people ordered burgers. I ordered mine with blue cheese and bacon and medium. It was well done and minus the bacon. Others ordered theirs medium rare and there's were medium well. The waitress was really nice and you could tell she was frustrated.

I don't know if Cohasset is too much of a sleepy town but the BT really has an identity problem. We will not be going back.
