Bearspaw Market - Calgary (+ Corn on the Cob)
I went out to the Bearspaw Market for the first time today. Not having been to other farmer's markets in town, I can't compare it to much. Prices were a bit higher than buying direct on the farm back home in Victoria, but not much. Not as high as I expected for Bearspaw! However, I was quite impressed with the quality of the produce and there were some good deals. I got two fair-sized bags of BC roma tomatoes for $2.50 each, two huge zucchini for $1 each and a head of orange cauliflower for $3.50 (I am envisioning that it is a cauliflower-cheese hybrid... I suspect I will be disappointed). I have a feeling I know how my Sunday morning will now be spent!
However, I still can't bring myself to buy corn on the cob. In Victoria, I always bought it on the farm. I'm scared I'll buy it from a truck labelled "Taber Corn" and end up with corn from Guadalajara. Any tips?

It is a nice market. Did you try the sausages? They sell them on a bun or frozen to take home. Really good. My favorite is the Kobassa.
