New Asian Restaurant in Westfield NJ - Asian Fusion

This restaurant opened about 2 weeks ago on Quimby street. It's a VERY small restaurant with seating for 21. The influences are Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Mongolian and I must say the food on our visit tonight was quite good for the most part. For appetizers we had a "sushi sampler" which consisted of 5 pieces of sushi. The fish was oaky, nothing special, but not bad but the rice was room temperature, a little cooler than I think it should be. We also had an order of cold noodles and sesame sauce. The noodles were overcooked spaghetti and the sauce was thin and quite tasty. For main courses we had the "grilled eggplant combo" with chicken and shrimp. Very tasty sauce, the shrimp had no iodine taste and were cooked well. The chicken was also cooked well, but the eggplant was greasy and not asian eggplant but rather smaller italian eggplant (disappointing) but again a good tasting dish. THe last dish was a Thai red curry again with chicken and shrimp, and again well prepared but not what I had expected. In Thai restaurants, this dish comes in a thin curry broth, here the different food elements were coated in the seasonings and sauteed. Again, a good tasting meal.
Now, the service. In one word, horrendous! Our sushi app came out with no soy sauce and no dipping dish, then the cold noodles didn't come out. After reminding the waiter 3 times, I went tot he kitchen yo ask for it (nicely), then the waiter comes out, puts it on the table and leaves, unfortunately there was no sauce on the noodles or in a bowl, there was no sauce. After another trip to the kitchen we got the sauce. Were were actually luck with this service because the table next to us got their apps after they got their main courses. When they mentioned it to the waiter he said okay but still put the main courses down.
Bottom line: We will have their food again, but as takeout.
