tons of bread. TONS.

a recent family member's passing has left us with two giant bags of rolls and white bread leftover from the reception. We also have tons of ham, roast beef and cheese (cheddar and swiss). anyone have ideas on something cool and fun to do with all this stuff?

With the leftover white bread you could make picatostes con chocolate. Bread dipped in water and milk, then fried. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and eat as is or dip the fried bread sticks into a rich melted chocolate (the kind you would use for churros). This is a typical treat for a merienda in Spain. http://fooddownunder.com/cgi-bin/reci...

If you mean "cool" literally you could make cinnamon toast ice cream!

You could use any of the bread for it.

you can make quiches and stratas with the ham and cheese and those will freeze, as will the bread. roast beef can work in salads, sandwiches, fajitas, tacos, burritos, with steamed veggies and horseradish cream for an easy supper.

oh, also gougeres, muffins and cornbread with the ham and cheese diced up inside.

Make Russian kvass from the bread and toast to the memory of the passed when fermented. Freeze the meat and cheese to use poco a poco.

Is the bread any good? If yes, donate. If no, find some deserving ducks and make them extremely happy.

Meat and cheese, donate or freeze in small portion sizes.

lots of shelters actually have a surplus of bread from well-meaning restaurants, but not much protein. call around and see if they are allowed to accept "open" deli platters. there may be a hygiene/sanitation issue.

Honor the memory of the loved one by making the leftovers a donation to a local soup kitchen?

I would agree to donate them IF the shelter/soup kitchen can accept them. Bread does feed the masses.

A strata with bread and some of the other ingredients.

Piggybacking on goodhealthgourmet's bread pudding suggestion--a cheesy bread pudding using the swiss
