Where to Find Really Good Fleur de Sel Caramels (Sea salt Caramels) in DC

  • 6

I'm looking for milk- or dark- chocolate covered fleur de sel caramels (sea salt caramels). Dean and Deluca used to sell delicious, chewy ones, but now only has the softer (almost liquid-like) bon bons. And I recently got a small box of ACKC milk chocolate covered fleur de sel caramels as a gift. They were good, but not as delicious as the ones I used to get from Dean and Deluca. Does anyone know who else sells really good (chewy!) fleur de sel caramels in DC or in the nearby suburbs? Thanks.

  1. Ha, this is the easiest question ever. The fleur de sel caramels at Arlington Confections are just what you are looking for. They are outstanding.

@CoconutMilk: Do you mean Artisan Confections? www.artisanconfections.com

In DC you can find Jason Andelman's chocolates at Biagio Fine Chocolate 1904 18th Street, NW.
The Arlington shop is moving to Clarendon near that Metro station - hopefully late this fall.

Thanks, Lydia. I've been meaning to check Biagio Fine Chocolate's out. And it's helpful to know about Artisan Confections (I couldn't find the other name).

      2. I am a big fan of the Sugar Cube, a candy store on the 200 block of N. Lee Street in Old Town Alexandria (near Overwood). They have fleur de sel caramels (chewy!) that are fabulous. Don't know the name of the makers but the store's website is www.sugarcubesweets.com. Two sisters own it (I believe) and they keep it stocked with the most amazing sweets.

        1. Thanks for the tips, Coconutmilk and milocat. I see that I need to go to the suburbs more often! It hasn't been easy to find a good replacement for the very delicious, chewy Dean & Deluca fleur de sel caramels. Thanks again.
