Ah! Chihuahua's

LeahBaila Aug 21, 2009 10:11 AM

Well, my scheduled lunch date cancelled on me...So I decided to proceed with my backup, seamlessweb.com. Long story short, I ended up choosing the "2 cheese enchiladas with rice, beans, chips & salsa" lunch deal for $7.95! I wasn't sure what I was getting myself in to, but reviews on menupages.com and seamlessweb.com seemed fine.
Where the hell can you get this amount of food for under $9 (w/ seamless discount, tax & tip)? To top that off, the meal wasn't good...It was great. The portion was large, the enchilada sauce was scratch made, the beans and rice were EXACTLY how they are supposed to look and taste, and the chips & salsa were fresh and delish...Will order more salsa next time.
Just had to gush...Best damn meal I've had at the price in the longest. Perhaps the most satisfying plate of cheese enchiladas in NYC.

So happy you had a good experience there, LeahBaila! Awesome. I love that place...my office is a block away. The service can be slow in the restaurant (which is small), but the food is good and the room is quite festive. Lovin' the price, too!

Funny you should mention Ah! Chihuahua. My friends & I were just there on Wednesday & I also had the cheese enchiladas. They were closed a couple of weeks ago & we panicked cause we thought it had gone out of business, but it turns out they were painting. Whew!

:) That would have put me in a panick, too. What else have you all eaten there? Anyone try the chile con queso??

My friends have gotten the chicken enchiladas & the taco combo. If I'm not in the mood for the cheese enchiladas, I get the Queso Con Chorizo appy which is really good.

Uh oh, the word is out... this is my secret Tex-Mexican place! I have been coming here for 5 years - I used to live a block away.

I grew up in San Diego so I can appreciate good Mexican food. This is the ONLY restaurant I've found in Manhattan that serves real refried beans (aka made with lard). I always get the Enchiladas Suizas, am sure everything else is good but can't divert from my fave.

:) Sorry I let the secret out! It was just so great that I couldn't help myself!
