Does anybody know where I can purchase some purple potatoes here in Vancouver, BC. I have heard that they are at some of the farmer's markets.

  1. That's correct. I've seen them at Trout Lake. Forget which vendor though... might have been the Pemberton Valley potato vendor. They had a ton of varietals.

No purple spuds at the Thornton Park (Wed) Farmers Market the last couple of weeks (and I was looking for them too).

    2. I have seen small baby purple potatoes in poly bags alongside bags of small yellow and white potatoes at donald's market on commercial dr.

      1. Granville island had some today by the food booth that sells perogies

        1. I saw them yesterday at whole foods as well.

          1. Too late for this week, but there's a guy at the West End Farmer's Market that often gets them. If you're in the Mole Hill neighbourhood next Saturday, cast your eye around there.

            1. Saw tons of them today at the Capers Whole Foods on 4th.

I saw 'em at Golden Valley on West Broadway (on of the many small greengrocers nearish MacDonald), where they often have more interesting produce.

When you finally find the spuds of you dreams Be Advised.

Upon being cooked they leach colour blue into everything they touch-serving a Tuscan Potato Salad means explaining why the Ricotta is that certain shade.....

EDIT-and you should see what they do to an omelette or scrambled eggs!

              2. Kits Farmers Market on a regular basis.

                1. taro is sort of like a purple potato...
