Prime rib

Where can I get the best prime rib in the city?

Renewing this older thread - kind of in the mood for prime rib soon.

I haven't been to any of these places, but I know they've been mentioned in other threads as having good prime rib.

    Keen's
    Hillstone
    Smith & Wollensky
    Old Homestead
    Strip House
    Post House
    Porter House

While I'm sure the Prime Rib is good at all the places you have listed above, the Hillstone inclusion would not be served like a traditional NY Steakhouse....especially if you are looking for a large piece....they'll serve you more of a sliver.

A Queen or Banquet Cut is usually half a rib, or less than 1/2-3/4 inch thick...or sliced out of the kitchen in what is known as alternating cuts of bone in, bone out . A King Cut would be at least a inch or with one rib. I prefer to get a larger cut with the bone myself and some places will offer a two bone cut.

Have had prime rib in the city, and my best so far is Smith and Wollensky, but haven't had Keens and I hear good things. If you could possibly swing a trip out to Long Island, Bryant and Cooper (they have a website), their prime rib is the best I've ever had, none withstanding. Fred Flintstone large, perfectly cooked, but you must reserve on the phone when you book your reservation or most likely none will be available.

I've enjoyed Prime Rib at all three places....in no particular order of rank.

        Old Homestead Steakhouse
        Smith & Wollensky
        Keen's Steakhouse
