Passing Through Barstow

I'll be driving through Barstow around dinner time... Do I dare slow down?

Any advice on something edible out there? I'm not opposed to a Mom and Pop Mexican spot, steakhouse... pretty much anything is fair game- though I wouldn't trust sushi out there.

Have not been, but always intrigued by Idle Spurs. A extremely eclectic steakhouse I've wanted to try, but have not. The Website is extensive with menu and prices. Would love to hear your experiences there.

I haven't tried it myself but heard from several people that if you try chain food in Barstow you should go to Del Taco since the chain was founded in Barstow and these locations have a different menu then anywhere else.

Nope, it's a wasteland for anything BUT chain stuff. Keep driving to Vegas. If you must get something to eat, wait till Baker, and get some beef jerkey from the Alien Fresh Jerky store. Great stuff, there!

Starbucks. There is a bathroom to the right.

Carls Jr has the bathroom to the left.

Save your calories until you get to Vegas. Only 2.5 hours.

Or go for another 30 minutes and stop at the Mad Greek in Baker.

There's an In N Out right off the freeway among all the other fast food chains. The INO usually gets pretty crowded, but always a good burger! As for more sit down restaurants, can't help you there - sorry!

Get a Double-Double and some fries to hold you over. The restrooms here are immaculate and huge, so don't be discouraged by a crowd in the dining room.

There is a large outlet mall there, so there will be a choice of many chain places. I don't remember what they have.
