Noble restaurant, 20th and Sansom
I attended Share Our Strength's Taste the Nation on Monday (http://taste.strength.org/site/PageServer?pagename=TOTN_homepage), which is a terrific cause and a great time if you've never done it. I've been meaning to post some reviews of the various places, but time keeps escaping me :)
Anyway, one of the restaurants whose food I tried that I was very impressed with was called Noble, a new place I'd never heard of on Sansom Street. I work at Cira Centre at 30th Street, and I'm always looking for places to eat lunch (yeah, 20th and Sansom is *just* far enough away to make that a little inconvenient). Noble isn't open for lunch yet (they told me it would be soon) but I thought the food was terrific. They served some kind of cold country pate, I think it was pork based, on a crostini with a hugely flavorful tomato chutney - sweet, spicy, gingery, awesome. The chef even offered to send me the recipe. They do local seasonal food, and I'm eager to try out the dinner menu soon.
Anybody else been? Any thoughts?
It's just OK. I had a few things there that were pretty good (grass-fed steak), and a few that were not (the foie gras was a major letdown). Nothing blew me away. I think something should have, considering the chef's qualifications, and the prices. The prices have supposedly been reduced since I was there, though.
Tinto is not that far from the Cira Centre and serves lunch. I've never been for lunch, but I've been for dinner a few times, and it's great. Meme also serves lunch on Thursdays, and Pub and Kitchen serves lunch Thursday-Sunday.
