Where to watch Sox/Yankees Saturday in South End?
Heading to dinner in the South End and am looking for a pre-dinner place to catch some of the Sox game starting at 4pm Saturday. Chow-worthy bar snacks and good beer selection a plus, but good viewing is the basic goal.

The hour is a little tricky, too early for many of the fancier places (including Union). Some of the swanker venues that might be open don't have TVs.
My standby for this is J.J. Foley's Cafe, a real tavern in a neighborhood that is short on such places. The newer restaurant side has seats at the bar; the original tavern side has a standing-only rail. Both sides have booth/table seating further from the TVs, and food, an above-average American and Irish pub-fare menu.

Useful to know! I've always liked that bar (for comfort if not mixology -- they let their most experienced bartenders get away), and it got much better as a pro-sports viewiing spot when they upgraded the TV a little while back. Now I'm wondering if other places might stay open in that 3pm-5:30pm no-man's-land on Saturdays and Sundays.
