Il Ridotto or Al Covo?

okay, since alle testiere is closed on mondays - i am left with the choice of il ridotto or al covo for dinner on monday night. which would you choose and why? a little about us - i will try almost anything so i am not worried. my husband on the other hand is extremely picky - he likes more basic food and absolutely nothing that is raw! will one of these restaurants be better than the other for him? if i could see the menus this wouldn't be a problem but since i can't - i don't want to get there and either have nothing for him to eat or waste money on food that he hates! any help would be appreciated. we are eating at il refolo as our other dinner so that one should be fine for him!

have you dont any research into what Venetian food is? you will find very delicious fish and seafood and pasta dishes based on same. Al Covo presents a traditional vvenetian menu. the dishes are quite simply cooked and seasoned in this cuisine, usually with simply olive oil and lemon. Ive not had better fish than we had in Venice. Im not sure about Il Ridotto, it is not traditionally venetian, but you should search for other people's posts and you will see descriptions of their meals and you can make your judgment. Personally we do not usually eat at restaurants in this price bracket - as you say if you are disappointed the disappointment can be increased by the cost.
If you dont want raw food, then avoid dishes called "crudo" , raw fish dishes which have become rather fashionable lately.

I have not been to Il Ridotto, so I can't give you a comparison, but my dinners at Al Covo were superb, and I don't think your husband will find the food threatening. It's mainly traditional.
