Hi all,

I'd like to take 2 friends to lunch here tomorrow. They are pretty unadventurous Chinese food eaters, unlike me. Anyone had experience with the lunch menu at the new incarnation of Red Pepper? We usually go to Uncle Cheung's for lunch if we do Chinese so they're used to the more traditional Chinese/American dishes that Jane offers (which are very well executed).

Thanks,
JoJo

I cannot speak to the lunch menu specifically at Red Pepper, but I would be wary of taking unadventurous eaters there. Are they people who might be dismayed by shrimp served with the heads on? We went for dinner, and we were the only non-Asian clientele. The menu was a bit daunting for me, and the service terrible...the waiter simply couldn't explain any of the menu items, and forgot half our order. That said, the food was terrific, and very spicy. I just don't think I'd try it with someone who is looking for Americanized Chinese.

Unless lunch is significantly different than dinner.

I posted about our first visit, in-house, to the new Red Pepper a few days ago...We loved it.

We've had take-out Moo Shi several times, which I would classify as more traditional Chinese-American,and I thought i was great; so did the less-than heat-loving TC. We also liked the scallion pancake, and they catered to his request for NON-spicy Mongolian beef with no problem. They have a whole list of Chinese-American lunch specials; I'd go for it.
