Breakfast in the South End, or thereabouts?
To celebrate our anniversary, my husband and I are having dinner at O Ya, spending a child-free night in a hotel in the South End, and were hoping to have a nice breakfast Friday morning, ideally but not necessarily within walking distance. Even more ideally featuring Bloody Marys, admittedly a tall order on a weekday. Have we any options? Thanks for any suggestions.
Happy Anniversary! Well there is Flour right there in the South End – but that is more like breakfast food. There is also Mike’s City Diner. But that place is not my thang – I have to have real maple syrup with my french toast. If you want a nice breakfast and don’t mind the drive, go to Henrietta's table in Cambridge

Henrietta's Table looks like our kind of thing; I'll run it past my husband, who's doing the driving. Thank you for the advice and good wish.

Which hotel: the Chandler, Hampton, or Holiday Inn? My walking-distance recs will vary depending on where you're staying.

The Claremont. Thanks for the replies! I was beginning to fear my question was trite (which it may be).

Is that the 30 Claremont Park Guest House? I don't know of a hotel by that name; there are some B&Bs in the South End, but only a few hotel-hotels.

It's in a row house, so probably it is the guest house.

A few ideas, all walkable from Claremont Park:
Uptown Espresso. Great coffee, good pastries, a beautiful indoor atrium and peaceful outdoor patio out back. Better for a continental kind of breakfast; I think they don't do the salad/sandwich/soup or beer/wine thing until lunch.
Charlie's Sandwich Shoppe. A small 30s-vintage diner, loaded with historical charm, with very respectable if slightly pricey old-time diner food.
Brasserie Jo. A handsome hotel restaurant (at the Colonnade) in the Alsatian brasserie vein, with both French and American breakfast options. Here's one place you can get a Bloody: the cocktails here are big and rather good.
Petit Robert Bistro. Only if you get a late start: they open for lunch at 11am, doing a very traditional French bistro menu. You may hit the last of Restaurant Week, but it's a pretty good bargain anyway
Happy anniversary!
