Where to buy a kosher turkey?

  • m

I have been asking around at various places - Whole Foods, the Farmer's Market, etc. - re whether they have kosher turkeys available. So far I have come up empty. Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Trader Joe's sold them last year; not sure if they have them this year.

try joints on pico bldvd. like eilat market or glatt market right next door.

Pico would be a good place to start, l've discovered a great kosher market on the corner of Colby and Santa Monica Blvd, across the street from the Royal (if that helps) and ordered my turkey there.
Its a full market with a butcher counter.

    2. My Favorite Turkey is from Whole Foods and is ORGANIC FREE RANGE KOSHER, 4 bucks a LB but worth it. Some people think Fresh vs. Frozen wins, the truth is most turkeys are Ice Glazed(semi froz) after processing and this doesn't affect the quality as long as you don't leave it in a freezer for more than a month.

      1. Gelson's

or, come to think of it, The Ralph's Fresh Fare Market on Venture in Encino or Tarzana has a Kosher butcher who might help you out.

OR try the places on this guide:

        1. Gelsons is easier. Try Hadar on Fairfax. Give them a call.
I think they have Kosher smoked turkey breast as well.

          1. Thanks so much. I will look into your helpful suggestions.

There are a TON of kosher markets on Pico Blvd. b/w Robertson and Doheny. Doheny Kosher Meats is good, and you can probably special order one there. Glatt Mart, Eilat Market, any and all of them can help-- but I think Doheny Kosher Meats is the most helpful. 310 276 7232
