W Queens cafe with WiFi and AC?

Joe MacBu Aug 18, 2009 12:07 PM

I'm suffering through this heat wave.
I need to meet with a friend tonight around Astoria to do some work online.
Any places with air conditioning, free Internet, maybe decent food and will let us linger while we work?
Have car, will travel.

There's a new internet cafe, Surf Astoria, on 31st Street between Ditmars and 23rd Ave, up the stairs between the produce market and the McDo's on the west side of the street. They have snacks, but not food-food; you can bring food in there, though. They have tea and coffee, too.

Not sure what the charge is for internet, but I don't believe it's exorbitant by any means. I'd like to know where one can get free wifi in a cafe atmosphere, Greek/Euro or otherwise. Sadly, Soleil shut down, and they were a great cafe with free internet. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

      Thanks for the tip.
They have free WiFi according to their website.

I'm posting this from Surf Astoria. The WiFi is free and works well enough. Unfortunately, it's pretty hot in here. There are some fans and window AC units, but's still hot. They also don't have any ice to make iced tea or coffee. Just some soft drinks in the fridge.

Bummer about the A/C - it's always been pleasant when I've been there, then again the heat is intense this week. Good to know about the free wifi, though!
