I live in LA but I am heading to Boston this weekend and I've heard there are amazing pisco sours in boston bars/restaurants. Any suggestions for an amazing pisco sour and some fabulous peruvian food?

P.S. I am peruvian and my family distills pisco so I know about damn good pisco :-)

Machu Picchu

This place is great, although it's a tiny bit expensive, including their sour which is about $7, I've had quite a few around the country and theirs is pretty good, as is their food.

Love RL..have they gotten a liquor license? They didn't have 1 on my last trip.

Eastern Standard makes a good Pisco Sour..not Peruvian food.

This is a post RL cocktail; homemade..:)

Massachusetts makes it difficult to get liquor licenses in general and particularly difficult for small restaurants to have anything more than beer/wine or beer/wine/cordials. Thus even slightly higher end restaurants like the Italian/Peruvian Taranta may offer Pisco based cocktails, but not sours or a variety of piscos. We also make distributing and mail ordering difficult, so most of the options are Capel and Macchu Pisco for brands. If you do want to go spirits shopping, there are options for finding less common liquors and liquers (Portuguese and the Portuguese diaspora being one which has been discussed a bit here). Eastern Standard, Craigie and Drink might be the bars most likely to have an unusual Pisco in stock.

Machu Picchu is the one option for Peruvian food and a full liquor license. I definately prefer Rincon Limeno, which you could combine with a visit to Ecco for a nicer lounge with good enough bartending to do a pisco sour, just not certain if they have it. The nearby Columbian bar Medallo has Pisco. And El Chalan is nearby and Frio Rico a Peruvian oriented store is over on Bennington St.. El Paisa also in East Boston (Orient Heights) is an option for Columbian food with full bar, but I don't recall seeing Pisco there. I have seen it at the nearby Columbian bar/restaurant El Kiosco. Most Latino bars tend towards a mostly male clientele.

I've had good pisco sours in most of those places too.

But what I really want to know is: ROMINA! Where on earth did you hear "there are amazing pisco sours in boston bars/restaurants"?

For food, Rincon Limeño is definitely worth the trip.

Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions! :-) I actually found the article that had mentioned the best pisco sour in Boston and its at Eastern Standard. It was in Latina Magazine, I guess its not the best source but its a Hispanic source so I figure its got to at least be descent. I'll be hitting up Boston a lot more from now on so I will def be trying all your suggestions. If you've got anymore keep em coming!

heres the article in case your curious: http://www.latina.com/food/restaurants/best-cocktails-ever

Went to ESK recently with a friend who had recently spent time in Peru and was really pleased with the Pisco there. I have not (yet) been to Peru so have no yardstick, but I think without fail ESK does almost every drink recipe they have properly and well. Plus it's a great and comfortable bar to hang out at....
