Rehearsal Dinner Ideas-Essex/Haddam CT
Hello Chowhounds!
I am getting Married next June at The Riverhouse in Haddam, and am looking for some good rehearsal dinner ideas! It would need to be a space that could accommodate 20...we are looking for something laid back, fun, and yummy! Outside dining would be a plus!

Some possibilities: River Tavern in Chester is very good. Du Glace in Deep River has gotten good reviews, although my experience there has been a little mixed. No outdoor dining for 20 at either though. Gelston House in East Haddam has an outdoor area that could easily handle your group, plus they often have a band. Food is hit and miss, but a beautiful setting by the river, and definitely laid back. Depending on how laid back you want to go, you might check out the Blue Oar in Haddam. Funky place right by the river at a marina, way informal, and as a bonus its BYOB, which could save a ton of $$. Oh yeah, by then Restaurant du Village in Chester should be reborn as Restaurant L&E. Not outdoors, but may be worth a look.
