I am a breast man myself :) So I am not attuned to price of chicken legs. To keep Chowhounders updated on the new offerings of fresh meats at Costco I jotted down the prices of the fresh meats.

Since my daughter will be taking the MCAT this Friday with me providing transportation to the test site, I wont be dropping by Costco this week.

What do you mean by legs? Do you mean just drumsticks, or the drumstick and the thigh? If just the drumstick, then 7.79 sounds pretty expensive for only five of them. If it's the leg and the thigh, though, I don't think that sounds too bad. But the leg and the thigh would be a quarter of the eight pieces of a chicken (2 wings, 2 breasts, 2 thighs, and 2 drumsticks), and you are saying they're not quarters.

Empire sells chicken legs and chicken quarters in 4lb bags. Quarters are usually 5 or 6 to a bag. Legs are 12 to 13 a bag.
In Shoprite the quarters are 6.99 a bag and legs are 9.99 a bag. Not badly priced at costco, but no metzia either.

the cost of whatever I bought was being shared by several persons so even if I spent a bit more than I had to (I guess I could have spent $8.00 in gas and tolls and valuable time from Far rockaway to go find it cheaper in B'Klyn) so it really didn't cost me that much more than whatever metzia was out there

If enough of us ask for it, I'm sure it will happen. Tell your friends to do it,as well!
