Will be traveling to NSW in a couple weeks. Most time will be spent in Sydney, but driving to the Hunter for a couple days early in the trip.

Any suggestions for restaurants, both lunch and dinner spots? Winery suggestions with cellar doors also appreciated.

We're open as far as cuisine/price. Preferably closer to Pokolbin, but can range a little further afield. Thanks.

It's a couple of years ago now, but I had a great meal at Splash:

I also did an excellent tour - two of us had our own jeep and driver/guide and basically were able to pick and choose wineries or go by his recommendation. One that sticks in my mind was Emma's Cottage - a lovely little winery. Have a great time - it's a beautiful spot.

Leaves and Fishes is a stylish restaurant that serves gorgeous food. Very tasty.

I've been to Iron Gate Estate (definitely recommend this, Roger only sells through his cellar door and to a few restaurants and with a background in petrochemicals he knows how to create the most amazing blends); Tallavera Grove; Tyrrells; Potters Brewery and the Hunter Valley Cheese Company - all fabulous in my opinion although I would have been happy to stay longer at the cheese co and forego the hops.
