Stopping off in Fernandina on the way to a cruise and staying overnight. Looking for fresh fried seafood on the cheap. Maybe a mom and pop type place with a seafood platter for two or something. Thanks!

The best place for this was Down Under which unfortunately folded about two years ago. Marina is downtown and mom and pop-ish. Food is OK and not toooo pricey. Surf is 5 min outside of town along the coast. Not a classy joint, but they fry up a mess of fish real well.

Slyders at the Beach is good for fish. For local color and local shrimp go to T-Rays at 8th and Beech for lunch. It's in a gas station but its real good.
