BBQ on or near 64 and the Outer Banks?
I'm headed off tomorrow to spend the week in the Outer Banks with my northern family, and they are looking forward to sampling barbecue while they're there. I'm bringing the requisite Allen & Sons from home, but do folks here have 'cue havens either along 64 or on the Outer Banks that they recommend for a taste comparison? (Note: we'll be near Hatteras.)
Where are you coming from? Blackbeard's in Conetoe(near Tarboro) is only a few minutes off 64, cooks with wood, and is all around excellent. Here are some more comments:
It's on alt 64. I'm probably going to have lunch there today. Also, they are actually open for Sunday lunch- 11am-3pm IIRC.
I've heard good things about Doug Sauls BBQ in Nashville, but haven't tried it.
