I like Frankie's Spuntino, which niia mentions, but you're also practically right in Chinatown, which opens up a bunch of other possibilities for you. That said, where did you end up going, and how was it?

i second katja. i have only been once but everything was fantastic. i moved to brooklyn from LES but will be going back to katja very soon.

Love tiny, charming and friendly Frankie's on Clinton St. Can fill up cause it's small, but it's great. Also like Little Giant on Orchard Street. Small place with surprising touches. You can make reservations here, so be sure to call.
